Can I surrender my pets to MCAA?

We are not a rescue or shelter, so we do not take pets. Please check the Animal Welfare Directory page under the Community Resources tab for a list of shelters and rescues that might be able to help you.

There are many agencies, organizations, and businesses listed in the directory that offer services that may help you keep your pets. Please exhaust all options before choosing to surrender your pets. Most shelters and rescues are full due to the overwhelming number of people wanting to surrender their pets.

I am struggling financially. Where can I get food for my pets?

Please check out the Pet Food Pantry page under the Community Resources tab for information about receiving pet food from MCAA.

In addition, The Little Black Cat Collective distributes pet food twice per month in Austintown, Ohio. Angels for Animals in Canfield and Animal Charity of Ohio in Boardman both distribute pet food when they have it available.

I am fed up with the animal abuse and neglect in Mahoning County. What can I do?

First, support Animal Charity of Ohio. They are the only humane department in Mahoning County, and they need our help in order to continue saving neglected and abused animals.

Second, our animal welfare laws need to be strengthened and penalties need to be harsher for animal abusers. Please see the Legislation page under the Community Resources tab for state and federal bills we are watching. There are links to information about each bill as well as sample letters you can use to contact your legislators.

How can I help MCAA?

There are several ways you can help!

Donate- We operate on donations from generous people like you. We accept monetary donations, gift cards, and donations of pet food.

Volunteer- We need people to help with all aspects of our organization, including distributing pet food and attending vendor shows and other events.

Business Partner- If you are a local business, please consider helping us sell candy bars or hosting a pet food drive for us!
